Established in 1996, Ian Levitt Attorneys is a multi-practice law firm based in Sandton. Our lawyers have expertise in litigation and arbitration, criminal law, family law, and corporate and commercial law. We have an abundance of skills and knowledge and our approach of personal interest and investment in our clients’ needs is one of the cornerstones of our firm.
What makes our firm significant is that although our staff complement may be smaller than our competitors, we manage to punch way above our weight and maintain our reputation in the industry. This is where passion, intelligence, trust and knowledge come together.

Our main objective is to satisfy our clients’ individual needs through focused, personal service. We are committed and conscious of the high ethical standards laid down by our profession. With the future being uncertain and constantly changing, we are committed to the challenges of the future. We believe lawyers should fulfill a more proactive role than in the past and we are committed to achieving this goal. In recent years, to the extent possible and allowed in law, we have built a reputation in assisting victims to bring about successful prosecutions. In situations where there is an immense amount of corruption and ineffective prosecutions due to loopholes and ineffectiveness of the criminal justice system, Ian Levitt Attorneys have acted for victims or complainants from the stages of laying a charge through to a watching brief of the trial.

Chabad
Chabad is a vibrant Jewish community centre, which is part of a worldwide network of non-profit educational and social welfare institutions dedicated to the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe - the making of this world into a better place; through increasing awareness of moral and spiritual values.
The Cynthia Levitt Women’s Learning Programme
This is a non-profit institution, linked to Chabad, with the mission of educating women through various programmes. This programme was named by Ian Levitt in honour of his late mother.
Pillars of Community
This is a non-profit organization that supports Jewish individuals who require assistance in the form of food, healthcare, accommodation, education, counselling, employment, and general financial assistance.
Jewish Helping Hand
This is a non-profit organization (part of Pillars of Community), which also supports Jewish individuals who require assistance.
King David Fund
King David Fund is the fund-raising arm of the King David Schools. The primary objective of the fund is to ensure a sustainable future for the King David Schools as institutions of excellence in serving the Johannesburg Jewish community. The fund offers those learners who can’t afford it the privilege of an excellent Jewish secular education.
Jewish Old Age Home
OHR Somayach
This is a major learning center that offers lectures, seminars, Shabbat weekends, a full-time learning programme, publications, and annual tours to Israel.

Probono work
Ian Levitt Attorneys believes in facilitating access to justice and know that some members of the community cannot afford adequate legal representation. We therefore take on pro bono matters or contribute pro bono hours on a regular basis.
